Media Pitch

Media Pitch is how you send a published story out to media and press contacts, with tracking on whether each one opened it. It’s the feature behind the Outreach pack (see Outreach Pack) — it isn’t its own page in the app; you reach it from inside Kanban or Contacts. Don’t confuse this with unrelated features that also use the word “pitch” — the external intake forms and Kanban’s internal idea queue (covered in Portals and Kanban) are inbound, and unrelated to Media Pitch, which is outbound only.

What you’ll see

  • Composer — pick a published story (or it’s already chosen for you, depending on where you started), pick one or more contacts to send to, and write your pitch text. You can use placeholders like the contact’s name or their personal tracked link, which get filled in individually for each recipient when it sends. A character counter warns you as you approach roughly 2,000 characters, the practical limit for an email link to work reliably.
  • From Kanban — when you publish a card, a “Pitch Story” option appears as part of the publish flow if your plan includes the Outreach pack, opening the composer with that story already selected.
  • From Contacts — a “Pitch Story” button on the page opens the composer with nothing preselected, so you can choose the story and recipients yourself. You can also pitch a single contact directly from their row.
  • Sending — clicking “Generate Pitch Links” doesn’t send anything on its own. It creates a personalized link for each recipient, and you click through to send each one from your own mail client, one at a time. There’s no bulk send and no delivery from within the app.
  • Checking status — reopening the composer for a card you’ve already pitched shows you who’s received a link and who’s opened it — that view is also your status page; there’s no separate place to check.
  • What a recipient sees — their link opens a public, read-only page showing the story as it currently stands.

Good to know

  • If you pitch the same contact again, their link stays the same — only the message text updates. This means a link you’ve already sent keeps working even after a follow-up pitch.
  • The story a recipient sees is always current — if you edit the story after sending, anyone opening their link later sees the latest version, not what existed when you sent it.
  • Tracking shows the first time a link was opened, not the most recent visit.
  • Only published cards with a document attached can be pitched.

Connections to other features

Recipients are drawn from your Contacts list, and pitching a story doesn’t create or change any contact record. See Outreach Pack for plan/entitlement details and Kanban for the publish flow this connects to.
