Campaign Roles

Campaign membership is separate from board membership — being on a campaign’s team doesn’t automatically give you access to the boards its cards live on, and vice versa.

The three roles

  • Lead — the campaign’s primary owner. Leadership can be transferred to another member, which automatically moves the prior lead to contributor. A lead can also add a card directly onto any board that’s part of the campaign, even one they aren’t otherwise a member of — the card lands there pending acceptance from that board’s owner.
  • Contributor — the default role for anyone added to a campaign without a specific role. Can view and work within the campaign, but doesn’t have the lead’s board-seeding privilege.
  • Reviewer — for people who need visibility into a campaign’s review workflow without being a working contributor.

What each role can do

  • Creating or deleting a campaign is limited to global Admins or Managers — even a campaign’s own Lead can’t create or delete it.
  • Editing a campaign, adding or removing members, and transferring leadership can be done by an Admin, a Manager, or that campaign’s own Lead. A Lead has full control over their own campaign’s roster, just not any campaign they don’t lead.
  • If you’re a campaign’s only Lead, you can’t demote yourself or remove yourself from the campaign — promote another member to Lead first, or ask an Admin or Manager to make the change for you.
  • Templates and the campaign library follow the same rule as editing: Admin, Manager, or that campaign’s own Lead.
